Michael Goodwin Obituary
Brimfield - On September 25, 2019, succumbing in a house fire, this world has lost a truly wonderful soul. Michael A. Goodwin was a man who accomplished so much in his short life. Quick witted with a kind and compassionate spirit, he practiced nursing for over 25 years; his patients and staff adored him.
A licensed Coast Guard Captain, he owned and captained a fishing vessel for 15 years while enjoying the waters off the east coast searching for tuna and stripers.
An experienced gardener and carpenter, he created a lovely home with his love Andrea, that was surrounded with flourishing gardens of flowers and vegetables, often to be shared by many.
He held and raised tropical fish with meticulous care and understanding. He also loved music and his dog Rosie.
He will live forever in our hearts and be sorely missed by all.
Michael was predeceased by his parents, Arthur and Theresa Goodwin. Surviving him are the love of his life Andrea Justice, "The 3 Girls", "The 3 Guys", "The 4 Grandkids", brother Mark, sister Lynn and brother-in-law David.
Services are private. There are no calling hours. Brandon Funeral Home, Fitchburg, is in charge of arrangements.

I just found out about this at work. Such a tragedy. Although I did not work with Michael long , It was a pleasure to work with him on the weekends I also worked. I'm glad that I got to know him during his stay on earth. He will be remembered as a kind hearted man with always a smile on his face. Another Angel looking out for us. Thoughts and prayers sent to his family, friends, co workers, community , and his grateful patients. God Bless.

I just found out and I am heartbroken .. Mike it was a blessing to have you as my friend and you were wonderful to my daughter as neighbors on Upsala Street where you lived and your mom was downstairs.. condolences and prayers for your loved ones .. you will be missed so much . Such a tragic loss! The kids and I are so very sorry to hear this sad news! We spent several hours by a fire on Saturday night, reliving so many great memories we all shared! Mike made an impression on everyone he met and the stories were plenty.
Andrea and girls, Mark and Lynn, I am so very sorry for you loss! Absolutely devastating! Andrea, the pictures of us with the tuna, as well as the many whales, still hang on my kitchen wall! Mike thoughtfully framed these photos, complete with his signature and date! They are still appreciated daily! Oh the fun we had and the experiences we shared! Endless cribbage, fishing, hunting, camping, amazing food, fabulous martinis and trusted friendships! Years pass... the memories live on. My heart goes out to all of you! I am so very sorry for your loss!

Michael was in my class at St. Mary's....I knew him since I was 4 years old in kindergarten. We grew up together in a very small school, and I remember even back in grammar school, Mike talked a lot about how he loved to fish. To Mike's family, I am truly sorry for your loss. God Bless Michael.

I met Mike simply by accident having a cup of coffee at our local coffee shop. I would always know when Mike walked in. Could not miss that big smile and infectious laugh. Mike would sit awhile and chat. Talking about his work, home and his love for life was evident. Michael you will be missed. You are in the arms of the angels now. I am beyond blessed to have known Mike. Even though I have only worked with him a short while I can say that any day I walked in and saw him I knew my day would be better. His personality was infections. He was always trying to make us laugh and brighten our day any way he can. And of course those that know him know that we were spoiled with some of the best food around! His love for his family was evident, every time he mentioned them his face would light up instantly. I can only imagine the love and light his family felt on a daily basis. My deepest condolences go out to his close family and friends for this tragic loss. I am just one of many blessed to have known Mike and I am grateful everyday to have had that opportunity. Mike, we will all deeply miss you........
