Donald E. Keefe, 93

WORCESTER - Donald E. Keefe, 93, formerly of Clinton, died Monday, January 7, 2019 in Saint Francis Home in Worcester.

Donald was born in Boston, one of three children of Gerald and Mildred (Woods) Keefe.

He attended schools in Boston before joining the U.S. Army Air Corps. He served as an aircraft mechanic at a military airfield base in Italy during World War II. While in Italy, he became conversant in Italian.

Donald worked in quality control in the electronics business for most of his career. He worked primarily for manufacturers of audio speakers and stereo equipment, including HH Scott Co. in Maynard and KLH Co. in Cambridge.

Donald's main hobby was boating. He owned a cabin cruiser that he kept at MacKenzies Landing Marina in Amesbury on the Merrimack River for many years. He lived many summers aboard his boat.

He leaves a daughter Marci Nelson of Boylston; a son Alan Keefe of Dixfield, Maine; a sister Geraldine McNulty of Stoneham; his longtime companion Ginny Hayford of Cumberland Foreside, Maine; two grandsons, Andrew Nelson of Fla., and Adam Keefe of Farmington, Maine; a granddaughter Natalie Keefe of Mexico, Maine; three great-grandchildren, Savannah, Calvin and Kaylin Keefe; and many nieces and nephews.

His wife Dorothy (Hencherick) Keefe died in 1996.

Funeral services and burial will be private. The Athy Memorial Home, 111 Lancaster St., Worcester, is directing arrangements.
