Helen M. Ghizzi, 87
WORCESTER - Helen McDonald Ghizzi, 87, of Worcester, died Friday, February 19, 2016 at St. Mary Health Care Center in Worcester.
She leaves her husband of 66 years, Frank Ghizzi; a grandson, Charles M. Ghizzi of Turners Falls; a daughter-in-law, Barbara Ghizzi of Brookfield, a sister, Nancy McCaffrey of Leicester; a brother, John McDonald Chester, Vt.; and many nieces and nephews.
Helen's son, Frank J. Ghizzi, died in 2014. She was also predeceased by two sisters, Elizabeth Stolberg and Ina Bilodeau, and a brother Charles McDonald.
Helen was born in Worcester, daughter of Charles M. and Mary E. (Leahy) McDonald and lived in Worcester all her life. She attended Blessed Sacrament School and graduated from South High School.
Helen was a telephone operator many years ago for the New England Telephone Co.
Helen was a longtime member of Our Lady of the Angels Parish. She enjoyed travelling and antiquing, and was an avid reader.
Helen's family wishes to thank the staff at St. Mary Health Care Center for the skilled and compassionate care they gave her over the past year.
The funeral Mass will be held Thursday, February 25, at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of the Angels Church, 1222 Main St., Worcester. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery. There are no calling hours.
The Athy Memorial Home, 111 Lancaster St., Worcester, is directing arrangements.
