Irene M. Burgwinkle, 92

Clinton - Irene M. (Bashaw) Burgwinkle, 92, died Monday, January 7, 2019, in Holy Trinity Nursing Center, Worcester.

She leaves a son, George E. Burgwinkle, and his wife, Brenda, of Holden; a daughter-in-law, Patricia Burgwinkle, of Clinton; three grandchildren: Jerry Burgwinkle, Nicholas Burgwinkle, and Amy Osborne and her husband, Eric; four great-grandchildren: Tyler, Timothy and Madison Burgwinkle, and Summer Osborne; a sister-in-law, Judith Bashaw; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband of 59 years, Everett H. Burgwinkle, who died in 2005, and their sons, Everett H. "Skip" Burgwinkle, Jr., who died in 2016, and Jerry R. Burgwinkle, who died in 1958. Four brothers, Donald, Edward, George and Robert Bashaw, also predeceased her.

Irene was born and raised in Leominster, daughter of George and Marion (Robillard) Bashaw. After she and Everett married, they settled in his hometown, Clinton, and there, raised their family.

For many years until her retirement, Irene worked as a Machine Operator at the former Doro Plastics of Clinton, and as a Picker at the former Colonial Press of Clinton.

A member of St. John the Guardian of Our Lady Parish, she enjoyed playing Bingo.

Irene's funeral will be held on Friday, January 11, 2019 from the McNally & Watson Funeral Home, 304 Church St., with a Mass at 11:30 a.m. in St. John the Evangelist Church, 80 Union St. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery, Lancaster. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a calling hour at the funeral home on Friday morning, from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m., prior to the funeral Mass. For those who wish, the family suggests that memorial donations be made to the March of Dimes, Donation Processing Center, P.O. Box 18819, Atlanta, GA 31126.
