John A. Palmer, 95

WORCESTER - John A. Palmer, 95, of Worcester, died Thursday, January 10, 2019 at the Worcester Health Center after a brief illness.

He leaves a son, John P. Palmer and daughter-in-law, Nancy of Ludlow, a son-in-law John Dolan of Holden, six grandchildren; Michael Wisniewski, Kelley Wisniewski, Timothy Dolan, Marianne Bishop, Matthew Dolan and Brian Dolan; five great-grandsons, Brayden, Jameson and Brennan Bishop, and James and John Dolan; and many nieces and nephews.

John was predeceased by his wife of 67 years, Dorothy (Kelley) Palmer in 2014, and his daughters Anne Dolan in 2014 and Kathleen M. Wisniewski in 2011.

John was born in Worcester, son of Joseph and Anna Piszczaka and lived in Worcester all his life. He attended St. Mary's Grammar and High schools.

John was a World War II veteran serving in the Army Air Corps.

John was a clerk for the U.S. Postal Service for many years. He was also a self-employed house painter.

John was a member of Our Lady of Providence Parish at St. Bernard's Church for more than 60 years.

His favorite hobbies were snow skiing and golfing.

Calling hours are Monday, January 14, from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at the Athy Memorial Home, 111 Lancaster St., Worcester. The funeral Mass will follow at 11 a.m. in St. Bernard's Church, 228 Lincoln St., Worcester. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Worcester.
