Richard M. Trainor

Danielson, CT - Richard M. Trainor, 76, of Danielson, Connecticut, formerly a long-time resident of Shrewsbury and Worcester, passed away on Thursday, May 10, 2018, at the Pierce Memorial Baptist Home in Brooklyn, Connecticut. His loving wife of thirty-two years, Judith A. (Kuusisto) Trainor, pre-deceased him in April of 2000.

Richard is survived by a son, Bryan Trainor of Brooklyn, Connecticut; a daughter, Deborah A. Trainor of Danielson, CT; two sisters, Melanie Desmarais and her husband Henry of Leicester, and Mary Remington of Worcester; two grandsons, Noah and Owen Trainor; many nieces and nephews. A sister, Therese Addison-Riggs predeceased him. Richard was born in Worcester, son of the late Arthur and Gertrude (Gaudette) Trainor, and graduated from Saint Stephen High School, where in 1958, he was part of the high school's State Championship Winning Baseball Team.

Richard and his wife, Judith lived in Worcester for several years where they started their family. They later moved to Leicester and then Shrewsbury in 1983. He moved to Danielson shortly after his wife's death, to be closer to his children and grandchildren. His family brought him great happiness and he was so proud that his grandsons are enrolled at Marianapolis Preparatory School in Connecticut.

He had been a Loss Prevention Supervisor for over twenty years at UPS in Shrewsbury, before retiring. While at UPS he organized the first UPS District Softball Tournament in Worcester County. Richard loved to stay active and played Golf and Softball, along with volunteering for the Friends of Assisi Food Pantry, for many years after his retirement.
