Waldren "Dinny" Lojko Obituary
Waldren P. Lojko, 94

GRAFTON/PEABODY - Mr. Waldren "Dinny" P. Lojko, 94, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 10, 2019 at Sunrise at Gardner Park where he had been a resident for eight years.

Waldren was born in Salem, MA on August 14, 1924 of Polish immigrant parents John and Mary Lojko. Growing up with three other siblings, he was the only child to attend college after high school graduation. He attended Salem State Teacher's College where he met his future wife, Grace St. George. World War II interrupted their courtship and Waldren served in the United States Navy on the USS Amycus in the South Pacific. He was honorably discharged 1946 and married Grace, on June 18, 1949. Waldren began his teaching career at Douglas and Hopedale High Schools where he also coached baseball. He earned a graduate degree at Boston University which led to his first principalship at Pittsfield High School in Pittsfield , NH and later to a position as principal of Grafton High School until his retirement in 1983. Dinny spent his retirement years traveling with Grace and working in his garden all at his own pace. When asked when something might get done, his famous retort was always "when the spirit moves me". He was a 55 year member of IAABO Board 26 Basketball Officials and a lifetime member of the Worcester Horticultural Society. He was a devoted Catholic and communicant at both St. Phillip's Church in Grafton, MA and Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Worcester, MA.

His wife Grace predeceased him in 2010. He leaves his son, Stephen W. Lojko and his wife, Kerry E. Smith of Boxford, MA, and his daughter, Roberta G. Lojko of Belchertown, MA.
