Mary Elizabeth Judge

WORCESTER - Mary Elizabeth "Betty" Judge, 95, of Worcester, passed away peacefully on January 31, 2018. Betty joins her husband and love of her life for 74 years, John "Jack" Judge, who died in May of 2016.

Betty and Jack resided at Homestead Hall in Worcester for many years. She loved participating there in its many activities and outdoor socials with Jack.

Born July 13, 1922 to Francis and Elsie (McCleary) Sliney in Mansfield, MA, Betty was raised in Mansfield and Shrewsbury where she graduated from Shrewsbury High School in 1941 and remained active in planning reunion gatherings for 60 years.

Betty worked for the Iandoli Markets for many years.

She was a charter member of St. Andrew's Catholic Church and a member of its Women's Club. She was known for her Heart of Gold and her bright big smile. She was an avid ten pin bowler and loved to walk.

Betty was predeceased by her granddaughter Kelly Gallagher, and her siblings, Robert, Richard, Edward, Gertrude and Helen.

Married on September 19, 1942, Betty and Jack settled in Worcester where they raised five children, John F. Judge Jr., Elizabeth Gallagher, William Judge, Margaret Anderson and Geraldine Cogen. She also leaves her sisters Patricia and Barbara, 11 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

After retiring, Betty and Jack spent many winters in Daytona Beach in Florida where she loved to visit Walt Disney World with her family. They also enjoyed many summers on Cape Cod.

The Judge family is very thankful for the wonderful care given to their mother by the staffs of Homestead Hall, St. Vincent Hospital and Christopher House.

Calling hours are Friday, February 2, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Athy Memorial Home, 111 Lancaster St., Worcester. The funeral will be Saturday, February 3, from the funeral home with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Andrew the Apostle Church, 5 Spaulding St., Worcester. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery.
