Joseph J. Turner, 81
Worcester - Joseph J. Turner Jr., 81, of Worcester, died Wednesday, October 19, 2016 at home surrounded by his family.
Joe leaves his wife of 57 years, Ann E. (Murphy) Turner; five children, Mary Ellen Coyle, Joanne Kehoe, both of Worcester, Joseph J. Turner III and his wife Angela of West Townsend, David P. Turner and his wife Karla of Land O' Lakes, Fla., and Patricia A. Boucher and her husband Daniel of Leicester; ten grandchildren, David and Julie Coyle, Joshua Kehoe, Nicholas Gilfoy, Marie and Joey Turner, Lexi and Callie Turner, and Matthew and Andrew Boucher; and a great-granddaughter Grace Coyle.
He also leaves two brothers, Robert Turner and his wife Kathy of Plymouth, Francis Turner and his wife Susan of Plymouth, and a sister Marcia M. Brousseau and her husband Al of Sturbridge; and several nieces and nephews.
Joe was born in Worcester, son of Joseph J. and Agnes M. (Strazis) Turner, and lived in Worcester all his life.
After graduating from Worcester Boys Trade High School, Joe worked 40 years for the Massachusetts Electric Co., primarily as a lineman. He also worked on the original installation of lights for night skiing at Mount Wachusett in Princeton.
Joe was a longtime member of Christ the King Parish. He enjoyed playing golf and bowled for many years in the Catholic Men's League. He was a devoted Red Sox fan.
Joe was a baseball coach in the Jesse Burkett Little League and the West Side Babe Ruth League for 16 years.
Joe was a tremendous family man with a positive attitude about every aspect of life. He will be greatly missed.
Calling hours are Sunday, October 23, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Athy Memorial Home, 111 Lancaster St., Worcester. The funeral will be Monday, October 24, from the funeral home with a Mass at 11 a.m. in Christ the King Church, 1052 Pleasant St., Worcester. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery.
