Anna M. Goszcz, 96
Auburn - Anna M. Goszcz, 96, of Auburn, and formerly Hadley, died peacefully on Friday, March 10, 2017 at home.
Anna leaves two daughters, Dr. Gabriele Goszcz and her husband Douglas Crawford, with whom she lived in Auburn, and Karin Eisel Garstka and her husband Garrett of Hadley; four grandchildren, Raphael Goszcz Crawford, his wife Dr. Alison Portnoy and their children Nathalie and Case of Charlotte, N.C., Dr. Christopher Crawford Goswick, his wife Emily, and their children Gideon and Levon Goswick of Marlborough, Michael Scarfo, his wife Mary and their children Evan and Colin Scarfo of Guilford, Conn., and Craig Scarfo, his wife Michelle and their children Ashley and Shelby Scarfo of Amherst.
Anna was born in Germany, the only child of Emil and Pauline (Sinning) Eisel. Her first husband, Hugo Eisel, died during World War II. With her children and late husband Kazimierz Goszcz, she immigrated to the US in 1953. She lived in Hadley before moving to Auburn three years ago to live with her daughter. Anna lived a long healthy life until this year. She was her vigorous and fully engaged self when her obituary photo was taken on Christmas Eve.
Anna was a talented cook and a wonderful baker. She used these gifts to enhance special occasions for her family. She was the organizer and inspiration for countless family gatherings to celebrate and honor their close connections.
Anna enjoyed gardening, needlecrafts and shopping. Her favorite and most important hobby was talking to and about her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Anna's family wishes to thank the MetroWest Hospice team, especially Valerie and Nane, for their skilled and compassionate care.
A private family service will be held this coming summer at Lake Winnipesaukee in New Hampshire where Anna had spent many family vacations. There are no calling hours.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to the Worcester Art Museum, 55 Salisbury St., Worcester, MA 01609.
The Athy Memorial Home, 111 Lancaster St., Worcester, is directing arrangements.
