Mary A. Dunphy

WORCESTER - Mary Alice Dunphy passed away on Tuesday, June 27, 2017 at the Holy Trinity Nursing Center surrounded by her family.

Mary was the daughter of Maurice J. and Mary M. (Hennessey) Dunphy and lived in Worcester all her life.

Mary worked as a hairdresser for many years at the Amy Brenner Salon. Upon retirement, Mary took care of both of her parents until their passing. She was our family caregiver and never said no to our requests. The love she had for her nieces and nephews gave her such pleasure. She was the chocolate chip cookie baker of our family.

Mary is survived by her three brothers, Father James Dunphy M.S. of St. Louis, Missouri, Donald Dunphy and his wife Dorothy of West Boylston; and John Dunphy with whom she lived. She also leaves her sister Anne Collamore and her husband Richard of Worcester, and nieces, nephews, and grand nieces and nephews, whom she cherished. She will be in our memory always.

Calling hours are Thursday, June 29 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Athy Memorial Home, 111 Lancaster St., Worcester. The funeral will be Friday, June 30, from the funeral home with a Mass at 11 a.m. in Our Lady of the Rosary Church, 25 Fales St., Worcester. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery, Worcester.

I will miss you forever Aunty.

I was so sad to hear about Mary's passing. She was so much more than a neighbor to us. She was a good friend and like a second mother to myself and a grandmother to my son Matt. She always greeted you with a smile and never complained, even when things got tough. I will miss our Sunday night chats! She certainly will be missed by us all. Our sincerest sympathies go out to her entire family. Rest in peace my friend. And until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of His hand. In sympathy and Love,
Patty, John and Matthew Carlo

I have the fondest memories of our Aunt Mary. She was a dear friend to my grandmother, Midgie Markey. Mary was the kindest, most gentle soul. Even though not blood related, she was part of our family. I recall her coming to my home during school vacations and over the summer and my mom (Kathy Markey Mancini) would make her favorite, eggplant parm. We loved our time with her more than I'm able to express. Mary, fly high. May peace be yours into eternity. Our sincerest sympathies to the family. In love, Kara Mancini Morton and family.
