Glennon R. Griffin, 53
WESTBOROUGH - Glennon R. Griffin, age 53, of Westborough, MA, died November 8th, 2017. He is survived by his five children, Emily of Worcester, MA, Glennon of San Francisco, CA, Beth, Kevin, and Alison of Worcester, MA, his parents Glennon and Mary Griffin of Templeton, MA, his sister Carolyn Griffin of Marlborough, MA, his brother John Griffin of Chicago, IL, his sisters Mary (Griffin) Sikora and her husband Anthony Sikora of Saint Charles, IL and by many nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was a graduate of Saint John's High School in Shrewsbury, MA and an honor's graduate of University of Scranton in Pennsylvania. Following the graduation, he entered the financial industry where he spent his career, beginning as a senior underwriter, at Worcester Insurance Company. He then worked as a loan officer at Orix Lending Alliance. In 2000 he joined American Express Financial Advisors as an independent franchisee where he remained for the balance of his working life.
Glenn will be remembered for his brilliant and delightful sense of humor. He held fast to his old school values of family and friendship. He had a kind heart and was a champion of the underdog. He loved "the game" and the camaraderie that went with it. He leaves an empty seat at family cribbage matches and is "up by three" at gin rummy. He was an accomplished golfer and proud of his Green Hill Albatross. He was known for his grill work at backyard barbecues accompanied by Pearl Jam and Jackson Brown.
He was very loyal to his friends and was known as "the vault". You could tell him anything and your secret was safe with him. A loving and strict father especially when it came to education. He was a man of integrity. He had a way of showing love without saying a word. We miss him already.
Calling hours are at Athy Memorial Home, 111 Lancaster St., Worcester, MA on Wednesday, November 15th from 4 pm to 7 pm. There will be a funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, November 16th at Saint Luke's Catholic Church, 70 West Main St., Westborough where Glenn was a parishioner.
