Sister Ann Estelle Heron S.N.D., 77

Worcester - Sister Ann Estelle Heron, S.N.D., 77, died Sunday, December 31, 2017 at the Notre Dame Long Term Care Center in Worcester surrounded by her family.

Sister Estelle was born in Webster, daughter of the late Peter F. and Hedwidge T. (Sampson) Heron.

Sister was a graduate of Notre Dame Academy in Worcester and Emmanuel College in Boston. She also studied at Annhurst College in South Woodstock, Conn., Fairfield University in Conn., and Sacred Heart University in Bridgeport, Conn.

Sister Estelle entered the Sisters of Notre Dame in 1958. She began her career as a first grade teacher at Holy Cross School in Springfield. She later worked in several educational ministries in Fairfield and Westport, Conn., before moving to Worcester in 1989.

Sister leaves four sisters, Joanne Heron of Lynnfield, Nantucket and Palm Beach, Fla., Jean Ellen Heron and her husband Girard Connick of Nantucket and Palm Beach, Frances March and her husband Thomas of Winter Park, Fla. and Dr. Mary McLaughlin and her husband Jack of Minn., nieces, nephews, and her sisters in religion, the Sisters of Notre Dame. She was predeceased by her brother, James P. Heron.

Calling hours are Monday, January 8, starting at 1 p.m. with a prayer service at 2 p.m. at the Notre Dame du Lac Chapel, 555 Plantation St., Worcester. The funeral Mass will follow at 3 p.m. in the chapel. Burial will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Lowell.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Sisters of Notre Dame, 468 Poquonock Ave., Windsor, CT 06095.
