Sally Joan Spees Talbot

LAKE CHARLES - Sally Joan Spees Talbot, 83, of Lake Charles passed away at 11:58 PM Friday, December 28, 2012 in her home with her loving family at her side.

Mrs. Talbot was born in Oklahoma City on December 16, 1929 to the parents of Ernestine and Adrian Spees. She grew up in Indiana and moved to Sulphur in 1946. She graduated from Sulphur High School that year. In 1947 her family moved to Lake Charles and she attended McNeese State University. In 1950 she married Benjamin Maxwell Talbot II, and lived in Lake Charles for most of her life. Always first, she was a loving and devout Christian, full time devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She treasured her time with all of her family and close friends. She enjoyed camping and traveling with family and friends. She was a very active member of Sale St. Baptist Church for over 40 years, and also worked in the church Day Care Center for many years.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Benjamin Maxwell Talbot II, her parents Ernestine and Adrian Spees, brothers Adrian D.(Skipper) Spees, Jr., William Lawrence (Bill) Spees Sr., and grandson, James Michael Brack.

She leaves to honor her memory, six children; two daughters, Joan Brack and husband Gene, of Blue Grass, IA and Nancy Ernestine Booth and husband David of Lake Charles, LA; four sons, Michael Talbot, Ben Talbot and wife Elayne, Mark Talbot and wife Therese, all of Lake Charles, David Talbot and wife Renee of Sulphur; eighteen grandchildren; Laura Shiltz, Capt. Stephen Brack, Charles Brack, Michael Brack, P.J. Brack, Brantley Booth, Ian Booth, Sean Booth, Austin Booth, Alisha Blessington, Benjamin (Ben) Maxwell Talbot III, Erin Edens, Kelsey Talbot, Lauren Talbot, Cole Talbot, Jennifer Talbot, Mark Talbot, Jr. and Kateri Land; twelve great-grandchildren; one brother John Paul Spees of Houston, TX, two sisters, Margaret Dyer of Lake Charles, and Marietta Woodley of Sulphur, LA, many nieces and nephews.

Her funeral will be held on Wednesday, January 2, 2013 at 2:00 PM at Johnson Funeral Home. Rev's. Randy Edwards and Brother Ernest Walker will officiate. Burial will be in Highland Memory Gardens under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will on Tuesday in the funeral home at 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM and will continue on Wednesday at 10:00 AM until the time of services.

The family would like to express their deep love and appreciation to Virginia Lamar for her loving and compassionate care given to our mother and our family during her extended illness. We would also like to express our gratitude to Dr. Dennis Fletcher and his staff, Tommie Sumpter, Amedisys Hospice, and Johnson's Funeral Home for all of their care and compassion.
