A devout Catholic, he was a lifelong parishioner of St. Bernard Catholic Church, where he served as an Usher and was a member of the Knights of Columbus.

"Papa" as he was known by his grandchildren and great grandchildren was very passionate about his horses, his vegetable garden and farming. But the thing that gave him the most joy in his later years was spending time with his twenty-one grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 63 years, Dorothy Jean Delhomme Castille; two sons, Shane Castille and his wife, Toni, and Lee Castille and his wife, Tee; five daughters, Bonnie Landry, Teddy Frederick and her husband, Gill, Mina Dekle, and her husband, Steve, Christine Angelle and her husband, Todd, and, Jeannie Begnaud, and her husband, Chester; two brothers, Raymond Castille and his wife, Maxine, and Richard Castille and his wife, Shannon, all of Breaux Bridge; 21 grandchildren, Jon Paul Landry, Mary-Elizabeth Carle, Sanders Castille, Sadie Brackin, Mamie Credeur, Ross Frederick, Dottie Perry, Rebecca Gauthier, Kate Gary, Kells, Shae, Maggie, Callen, and Maurah Castille, Alex, Adam, Olivia, and Caroline Angelle, Noah and Nicholas Picard, and Paul Begnaud; and 12 great grandchildren, Raymie and Addie Joy Landry, Lila Rose and Isaac Brackin, Audrey and Henry Credeur, Emma-Grace and Isabelle Perry, Savannah Gauthier, Sloane Castille, London Castille, and Quinn Poche.
