Joyce Broussard Valls

DELCAMBRE - A Memorial Mass Celebration was held honoring the life of Mrs. Edward Valls, the former Joyce Broussard, 83, at 10 a.m. Saturday January 11, 2014, at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, Delcambre, with Fr. Nathan Comeaux officiating. Donating her body to further develop medical science, a private gravesite service shall be conducted at a later date. A native and resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Valls passed away at 9:50 p.m. on Thursday, January 9, 2014, at Iberia Medical Center surrounded by her family. Being with her family and doing needlework, especially needlepoint, was her passion. She was the former owner of "Stitch-N-Stuff" and was also a member of local and national needlework associations. She was also a volunteer at the Bayou Teche Museum.

She is survived by her three sons Michael Wayne Valls (Mary Margaret) of New Iberia, Audie James Valls (Becky) of Houston and Scott Edward Valls (Kathy) of New Iberia; one daughter Susan Valls Bernard (Raymond) of New Iberia; eight grandchildren Mitzi Valls Mackey, Mindi Valls Mackey, Carmen Valls Beck, Lauren Valls Bolton, Lori Valls Bernard, Edward Audie Valls, Stephen Scott Valls and Dustin Valls Bernard; and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Valls; parents, Nathan Paul Broussard Sr. and Marceline H. Broussard; and brother Nathan Paul Broussard Jr.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be sent to the New Iberia Museum Foundation in memory of Joyce Broussard Valls at P O Box 14151, New Iberia, LA 70562.
