Scott - Funeral services will be held Monday, January 13, 2020, at a 10:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial in the Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Scott for Mrs. Carolyn Mouton Prejean. Entombment will be in the church mausoleum. Mrs. Prejean, age 80, passed away peacefully at her residence in Scott on Thursday, January 9, 2020, with her loving family by her side.

Rev. Mario Romero will be the Celebrant of the Funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Lectors will be Georgie Mouton and Renee Frawley and the Giftbearers will be her grandchildren. The Eulogists will be Marie Lynn Martin and Irene Thompson. Milton Resweber, accompanied on the organ by Joni Hamilton, will sing for the Funeral Mass "How Great Thou Art", "Ave Maria", "Holy God, We Praise Thy Name" and "J'irai la voir un jour".

Survivors include two daughters, Johnette P. Mansur and her husband, Paul and Carol P. Dauterive and her husband, James; one son, Jonathan Jude "J. J." Prejean and his wife, Rachel; eight grandchildren, Brice Mansur, Collin Mansur, Cassie Prejean, Claire Prejean, Carson Prejean, Andrew Dauterive, Celeste Dauterive and Sadie Rose Dauterive; one sister, Myrtis Mouton and her husband, Charles; and one sister in-law, Georgie Mouton. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Allen Prejean; her parents, Ralph O'Neil and Agnes Mouton and one brother, Michael O'Neil Mouton.

Mrs. Prejean was a graduate of Mt. Carmel in Lafayette, Class of 1957 and graduate of Our Lady of the Lake in Baton Rouge as a Registered Nurse in 1960. She was employed at Lafayette General Medical Center for fifty-two years. Mrs. Prejean was selected by the Society of Nursing Professionals in "Who's Who in American Nursing" and received the Heart of Nursing Award as Oncology Director at LGMC. She was selected as one of the "85 Who Made A Difference" by Our Lady of the Lake College in Baton Rouge, LA and selected "Heart of the Century" at Lafayette General Medical Center.

Mrs. Prejean was a Eucharistic Minister at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church and was a volunteer in Pastoral Care at Lafayette General Medical Center. She loved spending time with family and friends and loved her work as a nurse and volunteer coordinator, which she did the last ten years of her employment at LGMC.

Pallbearers will be Bill Lantier, Paul Mansur, James Dauterive, Brice Mansur, Joey Mouton and David Credeur.

The family would like to give special thanks to Burnella Doucet, "maw", for the wonderful caregiving, love, and close friendship she provided to Carolyn.

Memorial contributions in Mrs. Prejean's name may be made to the Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic School, 1301 Old Spanish Trail, Scott, LA 70583, or the Carmelite Monastery, 1250 Carmel Avenue, Lafayette, LA 70501.

Visitation will be held in Martin & Castille's DOWNTOWN location on Sunday from 3:00 PM until 9:00 PM, with a Rosary being prayed at 7:00 PM. Visitation will resume on Monday from 8:00 AM until time to depart for church around 9:30 AM.
