Dennis Paul Landry

CROWLEY - Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, December 15, 2012 at Geesey-Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel for Dennis Paul Landry, 87, who died December 8, 2012 at Southwest Louisiana War Veterans Home in Jennings.

Deacon Rodless Leleux will be officiating for the services. The family is requesting visiting hours to be held Saturday from 9 a.m. to the time of service at the funeral home. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.

Mr. Landry, a native of Rayne, resided in Crowley since 1947. During World War II he served in the U. S. Navy with the Armed Guard aboard the Liberty Ships, S.S. William Coulter, S.S. Flyaway and S.S. Loyola Victory.

In the early days of radio in Crowley he was program director of KSIG. In 1955 he opened the Sherwin-Williams Paint store here, serving as manager for ten years, and then transferring to the Lafayette store in the same capacity. He retired in 1986 after thirty-one years of service.

Mr. Landry was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church where he served as an usher for many years. He was a life member of American Legion Post 15, having served as chaplain. He was a member of the Crowley Art Association, the Krewe of Town Revelers and for a number of years was in charge of stage decorations for the Crowley Town Club Mardi Gras Ball.

Survivors include his wife of sixty-four years, the former Rosalie Scalco of Crowley; two daughters, Loraine L. Sentilles and her husband, Daniel of Seminole, FL, and Monica L. Helo and her husband, Ronald of Crowley; one son, Paul A. Landry and his wife, the former Donna Trouille of Crowley; four grandchildren, Stuart Helo of Baton Rouge, Meredith L. May and her husband, Phillip of Dallas, TX, Joseph and Rose Landry of Crowley; and two sisters, Delia L. Orlopp of Caldwell, TX, and Delta L. Morris of Pasadena, TX.

He is preceded in death by an infant daughter; his parents, Adonis and Marie Virginie Schexneider Landry; five sisters, Edes L. Mier, Zena L. Hamilton, Sister Margaret Mary Landry, Jenny L. Morris, and Monica Patricia Landry; and one brother, Louis Oday Landry.
