Glenn Broussard

Moss Bluff - Glenn Broussard, 53, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, December 14, 2018 in a local hospital surrounded by his wife and daughters.

He was given the gift of life on April 5, 1965 to Elwood and Faye Landreneau Broussard in Lafayette, Louisiana. He was a beloved and loving husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend. A beautiful family and everyone who knew him will be forever changed by this devastating loss of this wonderful, amazing man. No matter how late his shift he would drive straight to the football field so that he would never miss any of his daughters' performances. Glenn never met a stranger and always had something nice to say about everyone. He was always curious and eager to learn new things. Mr. Broussard worked in the medical field for over 30 years beginning as a Medic with Acadian Ambulance. In those years he progressed to an LPN and then finally becoming an amazing, compassionate Registered Nurse. He cared deeply for his patients and coworkers. He enjoyed watching the New Orleans Saints, even though they could make him crazy, and was hoping for another Super Bowl this year.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of nine years, Angela Broussard; daughters, Jessica Broussard, Alexis Broussard and Madalyn Daley; father, Elwood Broussard; siblings, David Broussard and wife Tammy, sister Joan Broussard; nieces, Sylvia Broussard, Lauren White and Victoria Fontenot; nephews, Trevor and Tristan Broussard; mother-in-law, Warene (Bootsie) Fontenot; brother-in-law, John Fontenot and wife Michelle; other family members, Lestan Reynaud, Jeanne Bellows, Melissa Robic, Renee Reynaud and numerous beloved aunts and uncles.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Isabelle Faye Landreneau Broussard; biological half brother, Richard Reynaud; and his grandparents.

His memorial service will be held at Johnson Funeral Home of Moss Bluff on Wednesday, December 19, 2018 at 2 PM. The Rev. Tim Goodly will officiate.

Visitation will be at Johnson Funeral Home of Moss Bluff on Tuesday from 4 PM until 8 PM with a rosary to be recited at 6 PM. Visitation will continue at the funeral home on Wednesday from 11 AM until 2 PM. Cremation has been entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home of Moss Bluff.

The family would like to extend special thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff of Lake Charles Memorial Hospital for their compassion and care during this difficult time.

Glenn was much closer to my brother than he was to myself as he was six years younger than myself and had grown up with my brother. He was always the best of influences that my brother ever had. I hadn't seen him in close to 30 years because I moved to Texas. But when I did see him, just a month or so ago, he treated me like I was his long, lost, cousin and in an instant made me feel that I mattered to him. His gift of compassion brought strength to the lives of those that had contact with him in any way, shape, form or means. My prayers are that God will help his family find that same strength, compassion, and the many other needed gifts in this very hard time.

Angela, I am so sorry to hear about Glenn's passing. I am a childhood friend. He was my skateboard buddy. I would go sleep over at his house and the next morning, his mom would drop us off at USL's McNaspy Stadium, where we would spend the day just skateboarding around the campus. I'm at a lost of words. Glenn was the nicest, most sincere person I have ever known. Always had a smile and a kind word. He was like that from elementary and throughout high school. My prayers will be offered for you, Jessica, Alexis and Madalyn this week.

I didnt get an opportunity to work with Mr. Glenn, but I know he was a great man. How do I know this?? I know this because lots of people have spoken of him. Ive heard not only from coworkers but also from people outside the hospital. I have yet to hear anything negative come out of anyones mouth. You dont build that kind of character without it being truth. I watched out the window helpless as help arrived for you that tragic morning instantly praying for whomever it was knowing in my heart that a coworker was hurt, and the prayers havent stopped. I will continue to pray for you, your family, and all of us at LCMH. I know that you will be greatly missed by many.

I knew Glenn from a patient's view. For a couple of years I was in the hospital a few times. Of all the people and nurses I had/met, Glenn is the one that stood out for me. So kind, caring and funny. He will be missed by many and most of all you, his family. Deepest condolences and pray for your peace in his sudden passing.

Mr. Glenn was a great man and an amazing nurse. I had the privilege of working with him at memorial hospital a few months ago. He also helped me with my nursing clinicals. I am a student nurse. He helped me pick the best patients to learn from. He also answered all my questions. He was always friendly everyday and super willing to help with anything. I quickly found out what kind of person he was. I looked up to him as a student nurse and hope I can be all that we was to his patients

I first met Glenn many years ago when he was an EMT. He had suffered a head injury and I was his ICU nurse at St. Pat's... Glenn was a challenging patient- first, because he was so sick and then when he started getting better! His personality soon showed up and he spent a lot of time being completely mischievous and exhausting! He tried to pull everything out... he laughed at my fussing... and he had a water gun under his pillow that he greeted me with one morning. I got him back a few day later with my own water gun greeting! We caught up with each other off and on... but when I moved to Memorial I got to know him better. He took great pleasure in the fact that he had been my "worst patient ever" and laughed at all the shenanigans I remembered. I don't think I ever saw him without a smile ready... if I called his name his reply was always "Whatcha got babe?". There was a little dry erase board on 7 tower that I always glanced at to see what he had written for the day... usually something funny. I don't think the words are in me to truly express how he impacted my life and those around him... He will be missed greatly- I hope when he was with us he knew how much we loved him.
