Joseph Lloyd Albarado, Sr. VATICAN - Funeral services will be held at Melancon Funeral Home Evangeline Memorial Gardens Chapel in Carencro, LA for Mr. Joseph Lloyd Albarado, Sr. 83 who passed away at his daughter's home in Vatican, LA. He was surrounded by his children and his longtime companion. The family request that visitation be observed on Monday, November 28th from 10:30 a.m. until 10: 00 p.m. and Tuesday, November 29th from 8:00 a.m. until the time of service. Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. A Rosary will be prayed Monday evening at 7:00 p.m. by Amanda Credeur. Interment will be held at the Evangeline Memorial Gardens. Musical selections are Amazing Grace, Just A Closer Walk With Thee, The Old Rugged Cross and The Wind Beneath My Wings provided by Charlotte Jagneaux soloist, Keith Estilette soloist and Phyllis Simar organist. Mr. Albarado, a native of Scott, LA was born on July 22, 1928. He was a resident of Lafayette, LA until 2002 when he moved to Vatican to be closer to his children. He met and married his loving wife of 54 years, Evelyn Estilette in 1947. He was known as a kind, generous and hardworking man having had many jobs including a taxi cab driver and truck driver. He and Evelyn were the proprietors of Lloyd's Cafe in Carencro, LA from 1971 to 1994. They owned and operator Lloyd's Repair Shop from 1958 to 1973. Lloyd's Cafe was renowned for it's Sunday plate lunches of barbeque and their famous rice dressing. It became the daily meeting place of the locals. No one left hungry with or without the ability to pay. Evelyn's family recipes had patrons traveling from as far away as Alexandria, LA. Mr. Albarado, retired from the Lafayette Parish School Board as a school bus driver in 1994 with 19 years of service. In 1995, he rejoined the work force under the employment of Lamb Services until 2001. Mr. Albarado believed in community service and was an active member of the Carencro Lion's Club, the Carencro Mardi Gras Assoc., the Carencro Jaycees and the LPSB Assoc. He received the Outstanding Citizen of the year award by the Jaycees in 1994, the distinguished service award from the Carencro Lions Club and an award of appreciation from the Carencro Mardi Gras Assoc. In his early years, he was an avid horseman. He enjoyed rodeo success in bare back riding and saddle bronc. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, crabbing and horse racing. But nothing gave him more joy and happiness than being with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He mostly enjoyed large family gatherings. He will be sadly missed by all who were blessed to know him. Survivors include two sons, Joseph K. Albarado and his wife, Joan, of Vatican, Joseph L. Albarado, Jr. and his wife, Pam, of Lafayette; two daughters, Cindy Albarado Deville and her husband, Ronnie, of Vatican, Leslie Albarado Thibodeaux and her husband, Brian, of Carencro; his loving companion, Alma Estilette; 9 grandchildren, Shane Albarado and his wife, Leslie, of Vatican, Stacey Savoy and her husband, David, of Vatican, Carolyn Stowe and her husband, Craig, of Metairie, Robby Albarado of Louisville Ky, Joshua Deville and his wife, Amanda, of Lafayette, Jeremy Deville and his fiancée, Ashley Bernard, of Carencro, Canean Thibodeaux, Kerry Benoit and his wife, Amber, of Duson, and Kimberly Benoit; 18 great grandchildren, Taylor Albarado, Harley Albarado, Conner Albarado, Meghan Savoy, Jacob Mathieu, Audey Mahagan, Chynna Stowe, Chloe Stowe, Cain Stowe, Cheridan Stowe, Kaden Albarado, Kash Albarado, Larkin Albarado, Adam Benoit, Jordan Forbes, and Skylar Prejean; two brothers, Allen Albarado and his wife, Virgie, and Dudley Albarado; one sister, Mary Ann Hebert; and his longtime friends, Raoul Melancon and Eston Hammer. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Evelyn Estilette Albarado, one son, Robert James Albarado; one granddaughter, Bobbie Jo Albarado Mahagan; his parents, Felix Albarado and the former Zeolide Domingue of Scott; six brothers, Fred Albarado, Felix Albarado, Jr., Oran Albarado, Leonce Albarado, Stafford Albarado and Simon Dolar Albarado; and three sisters, Eva Hebert, May Alice LeBlanc and Mary Eve Albarado. Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Shane Albarado, Robby Albarado, Joshua Deville, Jeremy Deville, David Savoy and Craig Stowe. Honorary Pallbearers are Taylor Albarado, Jacob Mathieu and Canean Thibodeaux. Our family would like to extend a special thank you to The Heart of Hospice and their entire staff, his Hospice Nurse, Theristen, his Hospice CNA, Sheila and his Hospice Chaplain, Tim as well as Ms. Barbara Richard, Eucharistic Minister, and Lydia his Hospice social worker. We would also like to express our sincere appreciation to our countless family and friends who provided meals, assistance with chores, errands and for your love support and prayers.
