Maurice - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 PM on Saturday, January 9, 2021, in St. Alphonsus Catholic Church for Joyce McGuire Benoit, 81, who passed away on January 4, 2021.

Fr. Paul Bienvenu, Pastor of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, will serve as Celebrant of the Mass and will conduct the funeral services.

Burial will take place in Calvary Cemetery.

Mrs. Joyce, a resident of Maurice, was the daughter of the late Paul McGuire and the former Edna Duplechin.

Joyce entered every room with a delightful smile, enthusiasm for life and a genuine interest in people. As a devoted mother to six children, Joyce was actively involved in their lives. This participation continued in the lives of grandchildren who affectionately called her "MiMi". She was a preschool teacher at Fishers Early Childhood Development Center. In recent years she dedicated much time to LARC. She was also involved in Special Olympics as a coach. Often, she could be found leading a group at the bowling alley or in state tournaments.

She always treasured her friends and made a very concerted effort to spend time with them playing cards, games and traveling or just visiting over a glass of wine. Her friends and family delighted in her culinary skills. She was quick to prepare meals whenever someone needed. A woman of Christian principle and deep faith, she was often involved in church activities, especially her rosary group. Music was important to Joyce. She was a supporter of the Acadiana Symphony. When the opportunity presented, she could really spin on the dance floor.

She is survived by her children, Martin "Marty" E. Benoit Jr (Linda), Larry J. Benoit, Toni B. Benoit (wife of David), Kay Benoit Knox (Steve), Maria Benoit Cole (Todd) and Jon M. Benoit; grandchildren, Nicholas Benoit, Lucas Benoit, Caleb Benoit, Derrek Benoit, Moniqué Contreras (Ricky), Corey Benoit (Leslie), Stefan Benoit (Christy), André Benoit, Alex Bristow (Amy), Brigitte Bristow, Cohen Cole and Carson Cole; great-grandchildren, Isaac Benoit, Emily Benoit, Amelia Contreras, Mason Contreras, Kai Benoit and Jeremy Sessions; and sister, Vergie M. Foux.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Martin "Steve" E. Benoit Sr.; son, David L. Benoit; grandson, Jordan Benoit; mother, Edna Duplechin; father, Paul McGuire; brothers, Oris and Gervis McGuire; and sister, Doris M. Abraham.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home - Maurice on Saturday, January 9, 2021, from 8:00 AM to 11:30 AM. A Rosary will be recited at 11:00 AM on Saturday morning in the funeral home.
