SCOTT - Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 12, 2014 at a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in Evangeline Memorial Gardens Chapel in Carencro for Sybil B. Comeaux, age 88, the former Sybil Babineaux, who passed away Monday, March 10, 2014 at 1:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center in Lafayette.

Interment will be in St. Peter Catholic Cemetery in Carencro. The Rev. Gary Schexnayder, pastor of St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church in Lafayette, will officiate at the services.

Mrs. Comeaux was a native of Carencro and a resident of Scott. She retired from the Lafayette Parish School Board as a food service manager. Mrs. Comeaux was a parishioner of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Scott.

Survivors include one son, Douglas Wayne Comeaux and his wife, Laura, of Hockley, TX; three daughters, Judy Comeaux Guidry and her husband, Malcolm, Charleen C. Trahan and Brenda Comeaux and her partner, Phyllis Mouton, all of Scott; three grandchildren, Kevin Prejean and his wife, Kelly, Kirk Prejean and his wife, Fran, and Christine P. Ray and her husband, Louis; four great grandchildren, Mitchell Prejean, Amiee Prejean, Lacey Ray and Bryce Prejean; two great, great grandchildren, Addison Claire Prejean and Olivia Jolie Prejean; two step grandchildren, Wayde Guidry and Chad Guidry; six step great grandchildren, Brittanie, Ian, Chance, Timothy, Lydia and Zachrie; two brothers, Wilton Babineaux and his wife, Mary, of Scott and Marcel Babineaux and his wife, Betty, of Carencro; and one sister-in-law, Ruby Falcon Babineaux.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Placide Comeaux; her parents, Alcee Babineaux and the former Bernadette Hernandez; two brothers, Alcide Babineaux and Malcolm Babineaux; one great, great granddaughter, Cheyenne Grace Prejean; and two sons-in-law, Curtis L. Trahan and Lester J. Prejean.

A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 2:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Tuesday and will continue from 8:00 a.m. until service time on Wednesday.

Pallbearers will be Kevin Prejean, Kirk Prejean, Louis Ray, Anthony Babineaux, Jerome Babineaux and Mitchell Prejean. Honorary pallbearers will be Wayne Comeaux, Phyllis Mouton, Malcolm Guidry and Bryce Prejean.
