Amy Dugas Obituary
Amy Lagneaux Dugas

Judice/Lafayette - Amy Lagneaux Dugas passed away peacefully at the age of 91 on the morning of July 3, 2014 at River Oaks Retirement Manor.

Amy Lagneaux Dugas was born on June 22, 1923 in Lafayette and lived most of her life in the Judice Community. Amy was a dedicated wife and mother and all will remember her sweet gentle heart. Amy and her husband, Milton Dugas, were the proud owners of a small neighborhood grocery and butcher shop called "Center Town Food Store" in Lafayette until the early 60's. After moving to Judice, Amy worked hard helping Milton. They canned the garden vegetables and butchered the abundant farm animals or birds Milton was raising and admiring at the time. She was always by his side, never complaining and never stopping until all chores were finished. She enjoyed Cajun music and was a wonderful hostess. When company stopped by, she always offered a hot meal to her guest. She spoiled her only son, but also taught him the most precious of gifts, true love.

She is survived by her only son, Glenn Allen Dugas; daughter-in-law, Ginger Dugas, many nieces, nephews and to many god children to name. All of her nieces and nephews called her "Nanny Amy" so all were in her heart.

Amy was the last sibling of the Meus Lagneaux, Sr. family that made their home in Judice. She is preceded in death by her husband, Milton J. Dugas; her father, Meus Lagneaux, Sr.; her mother, Eugenie Duhon Lagneaux; three brothers, Doyce Lagneaux, Murphy Lagneaux and Meus "Junior" Lagneaux, Jr.; one sister, Gladys Lagneaux Sellers; her nephew, William Lagneaux and many more close family members.

Glenn and Ginger Dugas would like to give heartfelt appreciation to the two caregivers, Kathy Acosta and Kathy Thomas who provided compassionate care for mom over the last few years and even took care of us in our time of need. We would also like to extend special thanks to the staff of Lafayette General Medical Center, Hospice of Acadiana and especially to River Oaks Retirement Manor for the loving care and support given to her during her last few days. May God bless you all as you have blessed us.

At the request of the family, visitation will be observed at Martin & Castille Funeral Home's DOWNTOWN Location on Saturday, July 5, 2014 from 10:00 am until 9:00 pm and Sunday, July 6, 2014 from 10:00 am until 9:00 pm. The Rosary will be recited at 6:00 pm Sunday evening. Visitation will continue Monday, July 7, 2014 at 8:00 am until 10:00 am.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, July 7, 2014 at 11:00 am in St. Basil Catholic Church , 1803 Duhon Road in the Judice Community. Reverend A.
