LAFAYETTE - Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 21, 2017, at a 10:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial in La Chapelle de Martin & Castille in Lafayette for Joseph Floyd Hebert, age 88, who passed away at 12:35 AM on Saturday, February 18, 2017 at his home in Lafayette.

Interment will be in St. Alphonsus Catholic Cemetery in Maurice.

Reverend Michael Keith Landry, Pastor of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in New Iberia will be the Celebrant of the Funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Lector will be Melinda Rivette. Jodi Bollich, organist and soloist, will sing for the services.

Survivors include his children, Michael Joseph Hebert and wife, Julie, Charles Louis Hebert, Jan Hebert LaVergne and husband, Ray, Bartt James Hebert and wife, Lynn, Paul Darren Hebert, and Steven John Hebert and wife, Caitlin; his sister, Ruby Hebert; 15 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Jeanne Duhon Hebert; his daughter, Janice Louise Hebert; his grandson, David Michael Hebert; his parents, Alun and Nedia Hebert; and his sister, Edith Hebert.

A resident of Lafayette, Louisiana for most of his life, Joseph Floyd Hebert was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend to all who knew him. Joseph was born in Lafayette on September 26, 1928. He graduated from Judice High School. After high school, he enlisted in the United States Armed Forces in which he served in the reconstruction of Japan. On December 1st, 1946, he married the love of his life, Jeanne Duhon Hebert. Joseph later attended trade school in Oklahoma for electronics. He retired from Schlumberger as an electronic technician after 34 years. He was a talented musician and woodworker. In his free time, he enjoyed gardening and making gumbo. Joseph was a charismatic man with a wild sense of humor. He will be dearly missed by all those close to him.

Pallbearers will be Michael Hebert, Charles Hebert, Bartt Hebert, Paul Hebert, Steven Hebert, Ray LaVergne, Keith Johnson, and Don Hebert.

The family requests that visitation be observed in Martin & Castille's DOWNTOWN location on Monday from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM and on Tuesday from 8:00 AM until time of service.

A Rosary will be prayed Monday evening at 6:00 PM in Martin & Castille Funeral Home.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to Melinda Rivette, who showed kindness and support for the family.
