A resident of St. Francisville, he died Wednesday, April 15, 2009, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. He was 64, born on Nov. 2, 1944, in Biloxi, Miss. He was a member of Grace Episcopal Church, St. Francisville, and served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. A longtime educator, he served as headmaster of WCCA in Woodville, Miss., for 13 years, and 16 years as superintendent of West Feliciana Parish. He had many passions and interests, including bird hunting, training bird dogs, farming with mule and plow, and spending time with family and friends. A loving husband, father and friend to all, he was a man's man, a champion of the underdog and a man after God's own heart. Preceded in death by his father, Lloyd L. Lindsey; and mother, Ruth Rhodes Lindsey. Survived by his wife of 37 years, Marsha Wirick Lindsey; children, Lloyd Lile Lindsey III and wife Libby, of Baton Rouge, Timothy Ray Lindsey and wife Laura, of St. Francisville, and Ruthie Lindsey Sayles and husband Will, of Nashville, Tenn.; and a sister, Nancy Lindsey Ganser and husband Jim, of Lincoln, Neb. In addition, he is survived by seven grandchildren, Lile, Rhodes and Parks Lindsey, all of Baton Rouge, and Mary Margaret, Betsy, Catherine and Tim Lindsey, all of St. Francisville. Pallbearers will be Carter Leak, Irv Daniel, Pat Butler, Bob Lewis, John Roy, Wallace Ferguson, Wettlin Treppendahl and Jim Roland. Honorary pallbearers are Jesse Perkins, Al Lemoine, Bernard Waites, Wendall Hall, Conville Lemoine, Mike Clark, Tom Pell, Henry Tripplet and Michael Patrick Quinn. Visitation at Grace Episcopal Church, Jackson Hall, St. Francisville, on Friday, April 17, was from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Visitation continues at the church on Saturday from 9 a.m. until the funeral service at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, Lloyd would be honored for donations to be directed towards the medical care of his daughter, Ruthie Lindsey Sayles.
