Bonifacio Ruben Perez

Bonifacio Ruben Perez, 82, of Soledad, passed away peacefully Saturday, February 16, 2013 at home, surrounded by family. Bonifacio was born June 5, 1930 in Chupicuaro, Guanajuato, Mexico and had been a resident of Monterey County for well over 50 years.

He immigrated to the U.S. while working under the Bracero Program and retired from agriculture after 65 years of dedicated service. He will be greatly missed and remembered by his family and many friends.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Rebecca Perez of Soledad; 10 children, Rogerio (Estella) Perez of Greenfield, Teresa (Ignacio) Saucedo of Soledad, Pilar (Javier) Gonzalez of Soledad, Esperanza (Bertin) Ramirez of Greenfield, Ruben (Rosa Ysela) Perez of Soledad, Rebecca (Jose) Gomez of Soledad, Manuel (Celia) Perez of Soledad, Rosa Martinez of Bakersfield, Yolanda Cortez of Lexington, KY; 33 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; five brothers; one sister; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, February 20, 2013 from 5 to 9 p.m., at Woodyard Funeral Home, followed with Rosary service at 7 p.m., at the funeral home.

Funeral Mass will be held Thursday, February 21, 2013 at 10 a.m., at Our Lady of Solitude Catholic Church, 235 Main St., Soledad; followed with Burial at the Soledad Cemetery.
