1947 - 2018 Obituary Condolences
Neil Curtis Anderson

Salinas - December 9, 1947 ~ August 31st, 2018

Neil Curtis Anderson died on August 31, 2018 in the arms of his wife, Maria. He was born on December 9, 1947 in Mission, British Columbia to Greta (Cameron) and Ken Anderson.

Neil was always a tinkerer and an experimenter from the time he grew up on a strawberry farm. In 1991, he moved his family from Canada to California to realize his dream. In 1993, Neil and Maria founded Reforestation Technologies International in a tiny warehouse on the backside of Monterey Airport. The company's focus was to provide products and technology to improve regeneration results in forestry, mine reclamation, and erosion control - but grew to agriculture, landscaping, and home gardening. As a life-long learner he taught himself soil science and molecular biology - striving to push boundaries and always working on the next best idea. He was passionate not only about the work the company was doing, but also the people that worked there. He felt that he had cultivated a place that people felt like family.

Neil's family included sisters Nonie, Wendy, and Shelly and his brother Ken "Sandy".

His love story started on August 19th, 1978 when he met his wife Maria, and even after 40 years they never looked back. He cared for her deeply and unwaveringly.

He is survived by three children: Liza, Erica, and John; As well as three grandchildren: Ari, Cameron, and Austyn. He believed in the greater good of humanity and pushed those he cared for to achieve their best.

A Celebration of Life will be held on September 22nd. Please contact the family or email [email protected] to RSVP. Donations to Cal Poly's Soil Health Project or are appreciated.
