- - Shirlee Allums, born in Bozeman, Montana in 1931 passed away Dec. 30th at the age of 87 years old.

During Shirlee's long life, she was a wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. Shirlee enjoyed being a member of the following; the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, the Violet Rebecca Lodge, the First United Methodist Church and the Women's Society of the First United Methodist Church.

Shirlee loved God, her country and her family. She believed in giving of herself as you could find her weekly feeding the hungry and filling the pantry at the Church. She volunteered her time giving communion to the church members residing in rest homes that could no longer attend. She worked many years for the Monterey County registrar of voters. Shirlee volunteered as a bell ringer for the Salvation Army. She would buy treats for the animals at the SPCA as well as roll her newspapers so they could be delivered for use weekly. She bought essential items and shipped them to the soldiers oversees. Shirlee continually thought of the residents of rest homes in Salinas as she would purchase toiletries, lotion, stuff animals and combs and would stuff Christmas bags with these items for each of the residents in various rest homes in Salinas. Shirlee had a passion for working cross -word puzzles, reading murder mysteries and playing Bunco with her friends.

Shirlee was preceded in death by her husband, a son, a daughter, a grandson, and both of her sisters. She is survived by her son and daughter in law, 6 grandsons, 6 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Shirlee's memorial service will be held at the First United Methodist Church located at 404 Lincoln Ave, Salinas on Jan.19 from 1-4 PM. In lieu of flowers, the 'family has asked that a donation be made in Shirlee's name to the , the SPCA or s.
