Scott Dennis Klikovac, 62, a resident of Spreckels, passed away peacefully September 30, 2017, at the Palo Alto VA Hospital after being defeated by his battle with cancer.
Scott spent his life travelling the high seas as a merchant marine, but his heart was in Olongapo, Philippines, the place he called home with his wife of 33 years and two children.
During Scott's final years, his brother Steve brought him and his wife into his home and took care of them till the end. You will always be remembered for your generosity in Scott's hour of need. In the true spirit of family, you eased the fears of your brother.
Scott will be sorely missed, and is survived by his wife, Zenaida Mamaril Klikovac, and their two children, Cristina and Eduardo.
Scott will be buried at 11:00 a.m., Oct. 26, 2017 with full military honors at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery, with thanks from a grateful nation for his many years of outstanding service to our country in the United States Army, Navy & Coast Guard.

In the fall of 1967, Scott was one of the new students to attend Spreckels Elementary. Sixth grade, with all trying to simply find our way at a time when we felt we were entering a new chapter in our life experience journey.
Scott was a very loyal friend at Spreckels as well as time that we spent at Salinas High.
The most memorable aspect was our trips home on the school bus. Scott's mother, a younger brother and younger sister would be waiting at a large gate, accessing their rural property off of 68. The daily excitement of Scott's return home by the two siblings, made a lasting impression. Visualize an older brother returning from overseas after a long separation; that was the scene every afternoon. That sense of closeness most of us will never know, and as expressed in the obituary, was apparently a lasting emotion.
RIP, Scott. I truly hope you are able to retrieve this, as I am hoping to receive 50% of that welcome when we next meet.
