Daniel R. Scanish, age 78, of Danny's Road, Penfield, Pa., died in Clearfield, Pa., Saturday, July 9, 2016, after a short illness.
Born June 28, 1938, in Tyler, Pa., he was a son of the late Daniel and Mary (Buganza) Scanish.
He was married to Ruth Ann (Brundridge) in 1976. She survives in Penfield.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Jill Charles of DuBois, Pa.; one stepson, Jimmie (Tammy) Brundridge of DuBois, Pa.; three grandchildren, Skyler, Alex and Aidan; two brothers, Robert (Phyllis) Scanish of Penfield, Pa. and Richard (Pat) Scanish of Penfield, Pa.; two sisters, Rose Ann (Lawrence) Chiodo of Weedville, Pa. and Rena (Bob) Makufka of St. Marys, Pa; and his dog, Toby.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, William Scanish.
Daniel was a graduate of Huston Twp. High School.
He served in the U.S. Army.
He was a truck driver for Sky Haven Coal Company for many years.
He was a member of the Penfield United Methodist Church, St. Marys Masonic Lodge #109 and a lifetime member of the Penfield Firemen's Club.
He lived all his life in Penfield.
Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, July 12, 2016, at the Ralph M. Geer Funeral Home, Penfield, Pa., and also from 10-11 a.m. Wednesday, July 13, 2016, at the Penfield United Methodist Church, Penfield, Pa. A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Penfield United Methodist Church with Pastor Randy Hall. Military honors will be accorded by the Valley Legion Post 978 Burial Detail. Interment will be in Laurel Run Cemetery, Penfield, Pa.
