A. Ann DeLong, 85, DuBois, passed away Friday, Oct. 16, 2015, at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh.
Born June 17, 1930, in Altoona, she was the daughter of the late Albert O. and Edna C. (Scott) Crain Sr.
She married her high school sweetheart, Charles DeLong Jr., on May 25, 1947, in Reynoldsville. He preceded her in death on Feb. 14, 2012.
At the age of three, Ann moved with her family to Rockton. Upon reaching school age, Ann attended a one-room school near Rockton for grades 1 through 8. She graduated from the DuBois High School in 1948 and studied nursing at a vocational school. As a licensed practical nurse, she worked in local hospitals. Ann loved making her own greeting cards and quilting. She was a member of the quilting group, Wips and Stitches. She was devoted to her family and her faith. As a member of the DuBois Church of Christ, she taught three generations of children.
Ann is survived by five children: Nancy (Allan) Skinner of Rittman, Ohio, C. Thomas DeLong (Linda) of DuBois, Lisa (Daniel) Cuneo of Stow, Ohio, Robert A. DeLong of Mannington, W.Va., and Stephen P. DeLong of DuBois; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and four brothers: Thomas, Harry, Billy, and Albert Crain, Jr.
Friends and family will be received Monday, Oct. 19 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. and Tuesday, Oct. 20 from 10-11 a.m. at the Adamson Funeral Chapel, Inc., in DuBois. A funeral service will follow the Tuesday visitation at 11 a.m. with Minister Keith Newell officiating. Interment will be in Morningside Cemetery.
