Adeline Francis Sandy, 102, Sykesville, passed away Sunday, Jan. 25, 2015, at Christ the King Manor after a short illness.
Born Dec. 25, 1912, in Sykesville, she was a daughter of the late Anthony and Laura D'Amico Sandy. Adeline never married.
She lived her entire life in Sykesville and was a graduate of Sykesville High School.
She was employed at Rockwell Manufacturing for 40 years, retiring in 1974.
Adeline was a lifelong member of Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Sykesville where she was very active in the Rosary Society having served as President for many years.
She also taught catechism and was active in church fundraising projects.
Adeline was also preceded in death by three brothers: Arthur, Thomas and Cluey Sandy; six sisters: Angeline DeMatz, Clara Fike, Helen Sandy, Elsie Dembrosky, and two infant sisters.
She was the last surviving member of her family.
Public visitation will be held from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Friday at the Leo Nedza Funeral Home in Sykesville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. at the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Sykesville with the Rev. Fr. Richard Tomasone as celebrant. Interment will follow in the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church Cemetery in Sykesville.
