Alice Mae Zipfel Kahle, 99, a guest at the Jefferson Manor, Brookville, formerly of Sigel, went to be with the Lord, Wednesday, June 18, 2014. She died at Brookville Hospital.
Born June 24, 1914, in Brookville, a daughter of the late Albert M. Zipfel and Elizabeth Mae Brenneman Zipfel. She was married to James Lon Kahle in September 1937 in Strattanville, He preceded her in death in 1976.
She worked for Sylvania in Brookville for 17 years and later for Glass Tite Industry in Warren, and later in Saegertown, for five years. She also worked as a house cleaner for various people for a number of years, including cleaning the offices of Dr. William Lynch and Dr. Joseph Prusakowski at Family Practice Associates in Brookville.
She was a member of the Sigel United Methodist Church for more than 60 years and a member of the United Methodist Women for more than 54 years.
She loved cooking up until the day she passed away, and especially enjoyed visiting with her friends and loved reading her Bible.
Survivors include a son, Michael Lon Kahle of Sigel; a brother, Joseph Max (Marion) Zipfel of Freeport; a sister, Anna Geer of Brookville; numerous nieces and nephews, and one special niece, Susan Pierce of Brookville; a good friend of her daughter, Harvey McClain; and two great-great-grandchildren, Natalie and Tristan Kahle of Cayuga Falls, Ohio.
She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara Lee Neese (died Oct. 7, 2013); a grandson, Eric James Kahle (died Oct. 11, 2013); two sisters, Louise Lawton and Lucille Orris; and three brothers: Arthur, Charles and David Zipfel
Friends willl be received from 9-11 a.m. Saturday, June 21, 2014, at the Sigel United Methodist Church. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 21, at the church with Minister, Dennis Lawton officiating. Burial will be in Blue Ridge Cemetery, Clarington.
