Anthony E. Asalone, Jr., age 82, of St. Joseph Terrace, Weedville, Pa., died Sunday, November 20, 2016, at Christ the King Manor after a short illness.
Bon Dec. 9, 1933, in Force, Pa., he was a son of the late Anthony E. and Mary E. (Ripko) Assalone Sr.
He is survived by three children: Virginia "Ginger" (Gene) Stewart, Indiana, Pa., Linda R. Asalone, New Jersey and Vincent E. Asalone, California; two grandsons, Lee Asalone and Shawn Stewart; one brother, Ralph (Charlotte) Assalone, Maryland; and three sisters: Elizabeth (Angelo) Carmella, DuBois, Pa., Helen (Vincent) Caporale, New York, Margaret Hudsick, Arizona.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two sisters, Rose Marie Callahan and Teresa Shepherd; one brother-in-law, Gerald Hudsick.
Anthony was a 1951 graduate of Huston Twp. High School.
He served in the US Army for two years during the Korean era and served six more years in the Army Reserves.
Anthony was a truck driver, then retired as welder from the Boilermaker Union and most recently worked at the Penfield Minimart.
Born and raised in Bennetts Valley, he lived 20 years in Indiana, Pa., and came back to the Valley in 1980.
Friends will be received Friday, Nov. 25, 2016, from 10 a.m. until noon at the Ralph M. Geer Funeral Home, Penfield, Pa. A funeral service will be held at noon, Friday, Nov. 25, 2016, at the funeral home with Deacon Paul Bauman officiating.
Military honors will be accorded by the Bennetts Valley Legion Post 978 Burial Detail. Interment will be in Morningside Cemetery.
