Arabelle P. Reed, 98, Apple Street, Weedville, died Tuesday, Aug. 11, 2015, at home after a short illness.
Born June 17, 1917, in Gardner Hill, Weedville, she was a daughter of the late James and Jennie (Taylor) Beck. She was first married to Martin Wilson, who preceded her in death. She later married Clayton Reed. He also precedes her in death.
Arabelle worked at Keystone Carbon and retired from Stackpole Carbon of St. Marys.
She was a member of the Weedville Wesleyan Church, where she was very active in missionary work. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, flowers, walking, entertaining, but especially being a loving caregiver to many family and friends through the years.
She lived most of her life in Bennett's Valley.
She is survived by three children, Maxine (Burton) Wheeler of Gardner Hill, Margaret "Peggy" (Bruce) Burkett of Sigel, Patricia (Rudy) Hillebrand of Sabula; 10 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Retha Lupro of DuBois.
She was also preceded in death by one son, Robert Wilson; three brothers, Gerald, Clifford and Raymond Beck; one sister, Viola Reed; one great-grandson, Michael James Wheeler.
Friends will be received from 6-8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 14, at the Ralph M. Geer Funeral Home, Penfield, and again from 9:30-10-:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 15, 2015, at the Weedville Wesleyan Church, Weedville. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 15, 2015, at the Weedville Wesleyan Church with Pastor Bryon Kleppinger officiating. Burial will be in Parklawn Memorial Gardens, Ridgway.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the Weedville Wesleyan Church or the Community Nurses, Inc. – Home Support Services.
