Arlene Sain Reinard, 46, of Brookville, passed away Aug. 12, 2015, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was lovingly surrounded by her family.
Born on June 5, 1969, she was the daughter of John George "Jack" Sain and Janice Arlene (Kirkland) Sain. Arlene learned the value of hard-work, perseverance, and kindness from their loving examples.
She was a 1987 graduate of Brookville Area High School and a proud Penn State alumnus, graduating in 1991 with a B.S. in Landscape Architecture. Arlene had a gift for serving the Brookville community. Perhaps you saw her smiling face behind the bar of the Ice House or Tony's, or you were a patient receiving her tender touch as she took your blood at the Brookville Hospital. Arlene's most passionate work was running the Brookville Flower Shop. Her true gift for design allowed her to create arrangements for her customers in times of sorrow, joy, and celebration.
Arlene enjoyed gardening, decorating, and adventures with her friends. The most important thing to Arlene was spending time with her family, especially her husband of nearly 10 years, Barry Reinard. Together they enjoyed golfing, kayaking, and being at 'camp' in Hallton. Arlene loved being a mother and helping Barry raise his two daughters, Lainey and Bailey Reinard. If you knew Arlene, you knew her best friend and sister, Kimberly Sain. Whether they were floating down the river, sitting on the beach, drinking around a campfire or tailgating at Penn State, these girls knew how to make the most of every moment. Her nephew, Kirkland Jerome Sain, was her miracle and the light of her life. She cherished every moment with him.
Arlene was a member of First United Methodist Church in Brookville and was active in the Bells of Praise. She was also a member of the Knox Township Volunteer Fire Company and Pinecrest Country Club.
Family and friends will be received from 1-9 p.m. Friday, Aug. 14, at the Brenda D. Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., Brookville.
