Ashley Stang Esposito went home to be with the Lord Oct. 4, 2016, with her loving husband John and her family by her side. After a courageous and faith-filled battle with synovial sarcoma Ashley found peace in the arms of God.
Born March 28, 1984, she was a 2002 graduate of West Shamokin High School where she was the salutatorian and the class president. An amazing young woman, she went on to graduate Summa Cum Laude from Carlow University in library science and receive master's degrees from Clarion University and Villanova University in library science and English. She greatly enjoyed her career as Assistant Professor, Collections and Development Accessment Librarian at Shippensburg University and previously at Merion Mercy Academy in Merion Station, Pennsylvania.
A resident of Carlisle, Pa., she was born in Pittsburgh and raised in Kittanning, Pa.
One of her great joys in life was traveling with her husband and visiting wineries, often with their greyhounds, Target and Fiona. She was an avid sports fan, enjoying Penguin and Pitt Panther games (especially Pitt beating Penn State).
Her greatest love beyond God and her family was music. She found great comfort and inspiration throughout her battle from old hymns and uplifting songs. Ashley was very talented and loved to sing and used her musical talents in choirs, as a local entertainer and at any karaoke event she might come across.
She is survived by her husband, John; mother, Marcia Stang; father, Kurt Stang (Sonya); sister, Victoria Zimmerman (Thomas) and nephew, Landon; sister, Hali Stang and nephew, Axel; and grandmother, Helen Stang; plus many loving members of the Stang, Craft and Esposito families.
Ashley's wish was that donations be made in lieu of flowers to the Sarcoma foundation of America, specifically for synovial sarcoma research.
Ashley's hope was that her journey might in some small way lead to less suffering for others.
Family and friends will be received for a celebration of Ashley's life at Snyder-Crissman Funeral Home, 200 S.
