Betty Jean Walls, 82, of 51 Walls Road, DuBois, died early Thursday morning, Oct. 16, 2014, at Christ the King Manor in DuBois.
She was born June 7, 1932, in Ridgway, a daughter of the late Thomas and Mabel Kalgren Thompson.
On Dec. 11, 1954, she was married to George T. Wells. He preceded her in death April 16, 2009.
Betty was a 1950 graduate of Brockway-Snyder High School and a 1953 graduate of the Indiana University of Pennsylvania with a degree in nursing.
She retired as a registered nurse for DuBois Regional Medical Center after 40 years of service.
She was a member of the Moorehead United Methodist Church in Brockway. She was also a member of the I.U.P. Registered Nurses Association.
She is survived by two sons, Thomas G. Walls of Reynoldsville and Timothy T. (Jackie) Walls of DuBois; two daughters, Joni K. (Lance) Sinfelt of Reynoldsville and Patricia A. Walls of DuBois; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a brother, Todd T. Thomspon of Reynoldsville and a sister, Irene Keister of Brockway.
She was also preceded in death by her step-mother, Elsie McGaughey; daughter-in-law, Kathy Olson Walls; and a grandson, Brent Walls.
Friends will be received from 10 a.m.-noon Monday, Oct. 20, at the Bernard P. Snyder Funeral Home in Reynoldsville. A funeral service will follow at noon Monday at the funeral home with the Rev. Leo C. Cramer officiating. Burial will be in Prospect Cemetery, Reynoldsville.
Memorial donations may be made to a local public library or the organization of the donor's choice.
