Branka Popadic Hanford, 72, Boca Raton, Fla., and Governor's Harbor, Eleuthera, passed away peacefully Jan. 18, 2015, following a year-long battle with cancer in which she never lost her spirit.
Branka was born March 5, 1942, in Belgrade, Yugoslavia, to the late Svetozar and Nevenka Radas Popadic.
Those left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 20 years, Thomas James Hanford, and children: Alessandra Peralta-Ramos, Sergio Peralta-Ramos, Lesly Hanford Maxwell and Ann Hanford Fields.
She will be deeply missed by her sister, Goga (Olga) Puzic (Popadic); her brother-in-law, Rajko Puzic; niece, Jelena and nephew, Marko of Canada; niece, Julie (Fitzgerald) Greene and her husband, John, of Highland Beach, Fla. Branka adored her six grandchildren: Matthew Hanford, Michael, Madison and McKenna Maxwell of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. and Caroline and Nicholas Fields of Matthews, N.C.
Branka was a beloved wife, a mother, a sister, and a friend. She was a comforter, a warm embrace, a woman of wisdom and much laughter. She could light up a room with her smile.
Her enthusiasm and energy to have a good time was contagious. Her love for life, her laughter and joy, her unique, truthful, caring, loving, giving, and passionate soul will remain in our hearts for as long as we live. She is finally, truly carefree, just like her spirit always was. She left our world to one that is most divine where she will make all of heaven laugh.
The family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 22, 2105, at Babione-Kraeer Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 1100 North Federal Highway, Boca Raton, Fla. A celebration of life service will be held thereafter at 7:15 p.m.
