Brian Lee Shugar, age 45, of Pittsburgh, Pa., died on Sunday, July 3, 2016, at his residence.
Born on Sept. 23, 1970, in DuBois, Pa., he was the son of the late J. Wayne and Victoria "Vicky" Simpson Shugar.
He was engaged to and was making his home with Jennifer Geiger and her daughter Dani, both of Pittsburgh.
He was a 1989 graduate of the Brockway High School and graduated from the Williamsport Community College, now known as the Pennsylvania College of Technology.
Brian began his career as a member of the Brockway Volunteer Hose Company and soon was working as an EMT with the Brockway Ambulance Service. After becoming a paramedic, he worked at the Brookville Ambulance Service and eventually was employed at the Peters Township Ambulance Service from where he retired.
He was a member of the NRA, and was an avid outdoorsmen and hunter.
Brian touched many lives. He was a mentor, a leader, a friend; and was so great at his craft as a paramedic, that he inspired and motivated others to excel in their own roles. He saved many people throughout his life, but was humble and did not want accolades. He received a Character Counts award from a little girl whose life he changed, and it epitomized all that he did and was, a man of true character and integrity.
He is also survived by three brothers, Jeff (Lori) Shugar of DuBois, Pa., Jason Shugar of Brockway and Chad Shugar, also of DuBois; two cousins, Jennifer Knox and Kristy Barnett; as well as several nieces and nephews.
