Bruce L. Provin, age 83, a resident of both Hazen, Pa., and Lake City, Florida, died on Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2016, at Haven Hospice in Lake City.
Born on July 6, 1933, in Allens Mills, Pa., he was the son of the late William E. and Martha Preston Provin.
Retired, Bruce was a career service man, spending 21 years in the United States Navy as a Chief Petty Officer. He served in both Korea and Vietnam. After his discharge from the Navy, he went to work at Maxwell House Coffee in Jacksonville as a maintenance supervisor.
Bruce enjoyed hunting and especially fishing and was a life member of the VFW, American Legion, and the Eagles.
He is survived by two sons, Bruce (Tammy) Provin Jr. of Lake City, Fla. and Earl Provin of Tampa, Fla.; a brother, Jerry Provin of Sigel, Pa.; and a granddaughter, Brandy Saylor of Jacksonville, Fla.
In addition to his parents he is also preceded in death by two brothers, Richard "Dickey" Provin and John Provin.
Friends will be received from 10-11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 12, 2016, at the Temple Cemetery in Hazen, Pa. Full Military Honors will be accorded at 11 a.m. at the cemetery by Parson-Marnati Post #95 of the American Legion. Burial will follow in the cemetery.
