Caroline Pearl (Barnett) McKillip, age 75, of Richardsville, Pa., passed away in the comfort of her home on Saturday, Sept. 9, 2017.
She was born on Nov. 13, 1941, to the late Jess Alfred and Helen Katherine (Himes) Barnett. On Dec. 28, 1963, she married Ellis Everett McKillip; he preceded her in passing on Sept. 30, 1995.
She was a member of the Richardsville United Methodist Church, the Richardsville – Munderf WCTU, Ladies Aid (Richardsville UMC), and the Richardsville Community Center.
Caroline loved children. Being around them caused her inner child to come out and play. She loved to babysit and she would go out of her way to talk with them. She was friendly like this with everyone and she would seek out the strangers or shy ones in the crowd with the intention of getting to know them. She loved going for rides in cars, especially when Ellis was here with her, although she never learned to drive. She was very active with the Richardsville Community Center, and very concerned about the community members. She was always curious about the happenings in the area, and made it a point to help others know what was going on as well. Caroline had a large collection of owl figurines. Those who know this loved to add to her collection, whether Caroline wanted to or not. Polka music and square dances were thoroughly enjoyable for her, and she listened to country music. She always had her address book at the ready to record birthdays and anniversaries. She would then send cards in commemoration of those special events. Caroline loved being in the company of others, and if they could eat while visiting, it made the occasion that much sweeter.
Caroline is survived by many family members including her son, David Barnett of Canonburg, Pa.; her stepchildren: Ruby Church of Erie, Patricia (Neal) Davis of Munderf, Jean (Darrell) Hidinger of Pekin, Edgar (Linda) McKillip of Wattsburg, James (Jane) McKillip of Summerville, Lily (Peter) Maletta of Marysville, Calif., John (Tina) Guth of Richmond, Va., Josephine (Rob) Henry of New Brighton, Pa.; her siblings: Sara Malone of Vienna, Ohio, Geraldine Dawson of Brookville, Robert Barnett of Brockway, Richard Barnett of Strattanville, Elizabeth Barnett of Brookville, Thelma Mattison of Port Allegany, Mary Cartwright of Brookville; 26 step-grandchildren; and 45 step-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, Caroline is preceded in death by her siblings William, Merle, Melvin, Theodore, Kenneth, James, and Sam Barnett, and Florence Terwilliger.
Family and friends will be received on Monday, Sept. 11, 2017, from 4 – 8 p.m., at the McKinney – d'Argy Funeral Home, ltd, 345 Main St., Brookville, PA 15825. Interment will take place at Lakelawn Memorial Park, Winslow Twp., Jefferson Co., Pa.
