Charles F. "Budd" Engle, age 95, a longtime resident of Ashtabula, Ohio, who most recently lived in Titusville, Fla., passed away Thursday, Aug. 18, 2016.
After graduating from Reynoldsville High School in 1939, he served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Later, Budd became a "meat cutter" and eventually opened his own store in Emporium, Pa. In 1959, he graduated from Pennsylvania State University with an associate's degree in electronics technology. Budd had a notable career at Sylvania and Reliance Electric, from which he retired in December 1984.
After his retirement, he became very involved with the Ashtabula County, Ohio, Senior Center and served as president of the Ashtabula County Council on Aging.
Budd was predeceased by his beloved wife, Betty Jane; his daughter, Ellen Fenstermacher; his parents, Arthur and Irene; five siblings: Mary, George, Bill, Bob and John; and his companion for many years, Marjorie Pelyhes.
He is survived by his daughter, Jane Buell, and her husband, Gary; his son-in-law, James Fenstermacher; five grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and his brother, Ken Engle, and his wife, Gloria.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Ashtabula County Council on Aging Inc., 4148 Main Ave., Ashtabula, OH 44004-6849.
The family will receive friends from 10-11 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 28, at the Bernard P. Snyder Funeral Home in Reynoldsville, Pa. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 28, at the funeral home.
