Charles R. Light, age 80, of Lighthouse Lane, Brockway, Pa., died on Friday, May 12, 2017, at Christ the King Manor in DuBois, Pa.
Born on Sept. 30, 1936, in Reading, Pa., he was the son of the late John Robert and Elda Hoffman Light. On March 12, 1960, he was married to Norma Jane Weilacher and she survives.
Retired, he had been employed as a packer at Brockway Glass.
Charlie was a U.S. Army peacetime veteran.
He was a member of the N.R.A. and was an avid hunter and fisherman. Charlie also enjoyed volunteering his time at the Brockwayville Depot, going to flea markets and garage sales, and taking time out to appreciate classic cars.
In addition to his wife he is also survived by a daughter, Erin Marie Balford and her significant other, Butch Adamson Jr., both of DuBois; a son, Charles Robert (Hope) Light of Brockway; two sisters, Evelyn Shaulis of Reading, Pa., Joan Rizzardi of Maryland; one brother, Frank (Barbara) Light, also of Reading; and a grandson, Joshua Light.
Along with his parents he is also preceded in death by a sister, Kathryn Mengel; and three brothers, Warren, Robert and James Light.
Calling hours will be on Monday, May 15 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Carlson-Shugarts Funeral Home Inc. in Brockway. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 16, at 11 a.m. also at the funeral home with Pastor Bob Trask officiating. Burial will follow in Wildwood Cemetery.
