Chester G. Smochek, 77, DuBois, passed away peacefully at home on Sept. 27, 2016, surrounded by his loving wife and family.
Mr. Smochek was born April 21, 1939, in Williamsport, Pa., the son of the late Helen (Duke) and Chester Smochek.
On Aug. 11, 1981, he married Nancy L. (LaBorde) Smochek, who survives.
Mr. Smochek was Catholic by faith.
He retired after 37 years as a heavy equipment operator for IBEW Local 126.
Chester enjoyed the outdoors and riding and maintaining his two Harley's.
In addition to his wife Nancy, he is survived by a daughter, Terri Shiock and husband Charles of Bismarck, N.D.; a son, Jody Smochek of Waynesburg, Pa.; a stepdaughter, Kimberly Dickey and husband Ronald; and a stepson, Joseph Brocious Jr., both of Reynoldsville; a sister, Mary Rose Smochek of Bryn Mawr, Pa.; four grandchildren: Sonny Postlewait Jr., Sara Postlewait, Shane Dickey, and Charles Brocious; and three great-grandchildren, Leland and Mia Troutman, and Angeline Dickey; an aunt, Anna Smochek; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Carol Smochek; a son, Kevin Smochek; a sister, Judith North; and a stepson, Charles Brocious.
Friends will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 30, 2016, at the Deeley Funeral Home, Punxsutawney.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 30, 2016, at the funeral home with Father James A. Ragan officiating.
Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Punxsutawney.
Memorial contributions may be made, in memory of Mr. Smochek, to the Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC, One Children's Hospital Way, 4401 Penn Ave., Pittsburgh, PA 15224.
