Clara Burkett, age 90, of Brookville, Pa., passed away peacefully on Saturday, Feb. 27, 2016, as a resident of Laurelbrooke Landing.
She was born on May 8, 1925, to the late Charles and Margaret (Jones) Host, in Forest County, Pa. She had worked for Sylvania in Brookville for a number of years and she also had owned the Laurel Haven Rest Home.
She was an avid card player and would be found with her friends and family playing cards, multiple times a week. In her younger years, she loved to roller-skate and more recently would tell stories to her grandchildren about the joy she gained from that activity. She had a deep love for her dogs, but her grandchildren are what filled her heart; she loved them all.
Clara is survived by three children: Albert (Ana) Burkett of Chapel Hill, N.C., Francine "Red" (Paul Vogel) Burkett of Brookville, Pa., Gary (Jane) Burkett of Brookville, Pa.; one sister, Bettylou Host of Brookville, Pa.; eight grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by one sister, Maxine Nolf; and one brother, Leon Host.
Family and friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 29, 2016, at the McKinney - d'Argy Funeral Home, 345 Main St., Brookville, Pa. 15825. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 1, 2016, at the funeral home, with Pastor Rob Robertson officiating. Interment to take place at the St. John's Cemetery (Windy Hill), Rose Township, Jefferson County, Pa.
Memorial donations may be made in her name to Laurelbrooke Landing, 133 Laurelbrooke Dr., Brookville, PA 15825.
