Darrell E. "Doc" Snyder, age 77, passed away Saturday, Jan. 16, 2016, at his home on O'Donnell Road, Reynoldsville, Pa.
He was born in Timblin, Pa. on Nov. 8, 1938, to the late Maurice W. and Veda Grace McGaughey Snyder. On March 28, 1960, he married Emma Grace Bennett Snyder, who survives.
Doc played baseball as a pitcher for Timblin and Walston teams. He was a barber by trade, having barber shops in Timblin and Punxsutawney, Pa.
He owned and operated the Reynoldsville Rollerdome in Reynoldsville for 38 years. He coached the Reynoldsville Rollerdome Lazers Roller Hockey teams with his team winning many state, regional and national championships.
Besides his wife of 55 years, he is survived by his daughter, Barbara "Barb" S. Snyder Yoder and husband Michael H. Yoder of Reynoldsville, Pa.; three grandchildren, Michael J. Yoder, Christian Yoder Shaffer and Matthey Yoder and wife Sarah (Fullerton) Yoder; seven great-grandchildren: Michael R. Yoder, Margaux Yoder, Ella Shaffer, Evelyn Shaffer, Gwenyth Yoder, Kaida Yoder and Rory Yoder; sister, Mildred Adams and husband Carl of Ringgold, Pa.; stepbrother, Beryl Snyder and his wife Shirley of Florida; two sisters-in-law, Helen Snyder of Erie, Pa. and Dodie Snyder of Punxsutawney.
He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Stephen Darrell Yoder at infancy; four brothers: Claude, Dewey, Harold and Marlin Snyder; and four sisters: Geraldine Snyder at infancy, Ruth Fiscus, Ethel Campbell and Ruby Yarger.
Friends will be received from 4 p.m. until the time of service at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2016, in the Bernard P. Snyder Funeral Home, Inc., 206 E. Main St., Reynoldsville, Pa., with the Rev. Mark Myers officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Penn Highlands Hospice, P.O. Box 447, DuBois, Pa. 15801, or to the organization of the donor's choice.
