He coached Little League Baseball in Clearfield for 14 years and enjoyed NASCAR racing. Being an avid outdoorsman, Dave was a life member of the Bennett's Valley Rod & Gun Club, Central County Concerned Sportsmen and the PA Wildlife Habitat Unlimited. Dave and his family had volunteered at Parker Dam State Park for the past 25 years with the "Mentored Youth Fishing Day," the Sunday morning church service and the "Skins & Skulls" animal education program. He was also a locally known "dowser" and lived all his life in Penfield.
In addition to his wife, Barbara Shaw Long of Penfield, he is survived by three children: Bradley L. Long of Torrance, Calif., Brett L. (Denise) Long of Penfield and Barry L. (Gina) Long of Penfield; and two twin grandsons, Corey and Cody Long.
He was also preceded in death by his stepfather, Louis F. Picard.
