David Lyle Latimer of Wynfield Lane, New Wilmington, Pa., died Saturday, July 2, 2016, at the Overlook Medical Clinic, New Wilmington. He was 77 years old.
Born in New Castle, Pa., Sept. 12, 1938 to the late Vane Presley and Frieda Weston Latimer.
Mr. Latimer married the former Beverly Ann Grassell Feb. 23, 1991, and she survives at the residence.
He was a self-employed contractor and a former member of the Leesburg Presbyterian Church. He was a graduate of Wilmington High School and was a member of the Lodge of the Craft, in New Castle, Pa.
David served his county in the U.S. Army.
Survivors in addition to his wife Beverly, are three sons: Bryan D. Latimer and his wife Pam of Santee, California, Douglas W. Latimer and his wife Bobbilyn of Volant and Bradley T. Latimer and his wife Sheri of Mercer, Pa.; one sister, Joyce Powers and her husband Roger of Maryland; and one brother, Thomas Latimer and his wife Claudia of the state of Washington. Two step daughters, Lori Steller and Linda Kaufman and her husband Bill, along with nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren complete the family.
David is preceded in death also by his wife, the former Joyce McConnell, in 1990; an infant son, Donald; and a sister, Patricia Davidson.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Friday July 8, 2016, at the Smith Funeral Home, 310 W. Neshannock Avenue, New Wilmington, Pa. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Sat. July 9, 2016, from the funeral home. Rev. August Hurst of Lebanon Presbyterian Church will officiate and interment will follow at Rich Hill Cemetery, Volant, Pa.
Memorials may be given in his name to Leesburg (ECO) Presbyterian Church, 1831 Perry Highway, Volant, PA 16156.
