Della Mae Trayer, 87, Brookville, passed away peacefully Wednesday, March 11, 2015, at Jefferson Manor in Brookville.
Born May 3, 1927, in Brookville, she was a daughter of the late Clarence Adam and Pauline Jane Holben Mohney.
Della was first married to Earl E. Zimmerman who passed away in 1987. She then married Leroy M. Trayer on April 4, 1993, spending 16 wonderful years together before his death in 2009.
Della was a loving wife and mother who deeply cared for her family.
Throughout her life, she enjoyed working outside the home, having been employed at the Jefferson County Courthouse for 15 years before her retirement. She also worked for Sylvania/Cameron Manufacturing and the Brookville Truck Stop.
Della cherished the company of all those around her. She especially enjoyed chatting with her friends and the many visitors she encountered each day while working at the courthouse and her church. She delighted in making everyone's day a little brighter with her smile and zeal for life.
In keeping with her active lifestyle outside of work, Della was a loving mother and grandmother who enjoyed caring for and spending precious time with her family. A wonderful homemaker, she was skillful in the kitchen, avidly baking and cooking; both of which she had a deep passion for.
She attended the Church of God in Emerickville and the Gospel Center in Reynoldsville where she also volunteered her time and worked.
Della was certainly an inspiration to all who knew her and will be dearly missed.
Surviving relatives include her three sons: Richard Zimmerman and his wife, Marilyn, of Brookville; Tim Zimmerman and his wife, Tina, also of Brookville; and Terry Zimmerman of Dover, Del. She is also survived by a sister, Carlene Dixon of Lady Lake, Fla.; and two grandchildren, numerous step-grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and numerous step-great-grandchildren as well.
She was also preceded in death by a grandson, Eric Zimmerman; and two brothers, Edwin and James Larry "Butch" Mohney.
